Earth is the Nexus of the realms of power and must be protected by the Realm Knights and High Council of Myst. Many have tried to take it over before, but all have failed, even Merlin and his evil knights. Another Tyrant whishes to take over the realms of power, The Dark Princess and she will not fail. It is her destiny.

The story is well done in this graphic novel. Joe Brush does a good job of pacing the story so that it moves forward quickly, but it leaves enough time for each major character to be developed. The interactions between the good and evil characters seem organic and each line gives you a little more world building. This is a great feature since this is not a familiar setting that has been built up before now. There are some references made to other graphic novels which I appreciate as an old comic collector who can remember the world before the internet. Through most of the story it seems that the good guys will not be stopped, but it does develop in a way that puts that in questions and raises the stakes before the cliff hanger ending.

The artwork is well done. Abrera puts a great amount of detail in every panel and I appreciate how the gore is not over done. Grimm Fairy tales can get a bit messy from time to time, but this one has just the right amount of gore. There was one panel that I felt was not in the right place. Not sure if this is a true critique of the artist but I had to put it somewhere. Overall, I liked the artwork. It was bright, colorful and had enough detail that you enjoyed all the panels.

I do not normally have a problem with lettering and do not even comment on it, but there is a problem in some of the panels. Near the end of the book there is some yellow lettering in a red box that was very hard to read. I was reading a digital copy, so that could be a factor.

Overall, I give Grimm Fairy Tales Myths & Legends Quarterly: Dark Princess 7 capes out of 10. I liked it as a D&D fan. I enjoyed the story and artwork except for the couple of problems I mentioned. My only other complaint was that this graphic novel does not include the conclusion of the story, but instead it is revealed to be a set up.
